Chirang deputy commissioner-cum-returning officer, Gautam Talukdar has called upon all zonal and sector officers to strictly implement the model code of conduct and ensure strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols during the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) polls.

The BTC polls are scheduled to take place in two phases on December 7 and 10.

He directed the zonal and sector officers to ensure that precautionary measures like maintaining social distancing, wearing face masks and using hand sanitizers are practiced by the polling personnel and voters during the polls

He further asked the officers to visit the polling stations under their jurisdiction to assess the ground realities and report back to him immediately on any specific problem.

The officers should get themselves well acquainted with their duties as well as all guidelines and other related instructions of the Assam State Election Commission for conducting the BTC elections in a smooth manner in the district.

General observer Nandita Dutta also addressed the officials regarding important election related matters and modalities.

The district administration has appointed 6 zonal officers and 24 sector officers in 228 polling stations in the district.

A total of 1,68,224 voters in the district will cast their votes in the BTC polls.
