Sensation prevails in Tangla town under Udalguri district after a local rice trader, 54-year-old Sushil Das, has been missing since May 22 last.

As per reports, Das came out of his home on May 22, 2018 informing his family members that he would board a train to Guwahati for business purposes, but he has not turned up.

Sources also informed that there has been no information about the whereabouts of Das since May 22.

The family members of Subham Das, the son of Sushil Das, a resident of Paschim Nalbari village under Tangla Police Station under Udalguri district informed that they have not been able to contact him since 12 pm on May 22.

Talking to media persons here, Subham said, “When we were unable to contact our father over his mobile phone, we visited his business associates in Guwahati to know about his whereabouts. But they also could not provide any information regarding his whereabouts.”

He further said, “When we failed to trace our father, we had lodged a missing report with the Tangla Police Station.”

The family members have also apprised the Udalguri Superintendent of Police, Rajveer Singh, about the missing of Sushil Das.

Udalguri SP Singh, as per sources, has assured the family of the missing Udalguri trader, of taking step in this regard.

The family members have also not ruled out possibility of Das being kidnapped, but stated that they have not received any ransom demand call.

“We are trying to locate the whereabouts of the missing businessman, but no leads have been found yet,” a police official said. Tangla Police has continued investigations.
