There is still no trace of the two young girls even after 24 hours of their drowning in the Brahmaputra River at Desangmukh of eastern Assam’s Sivasagar district on Sunday.

According to our earlier report, the two girls slipped and fell into the river while clicking selfies.

Meanwhile, police and SDRF resumed search operations that were suspended on Sunday evening because of darkness.

The two girls identified as Anjali Chetri, aged around 17 years, of Ophola village in Desangmukh area and Arati Chetri, of the same age, of Doomdooma had gone to the banks of Brahmaputra to immerse Puja items in the river at around 11 am on Sunday.

After immersion, they were clicking selfies but suddenly they slipped from the bank and fell into the river.

According to family sources, Arati came to Anajali’s house at Desangmukh from Doomdooma two days back.
