In a fresh twist over the peace talks between the Central Government and the NDFB (P), a BTC delegation is learnt to have informed by senior a Home Ministry official that the talk “has not achieved much progress.”

“When we have raised the issue of the ongoing peace talk with the NDFB (P), we were informed by the Home Ministry officials that the talk has not achieved much progress,” said BPF MP Biswajit Daimary while quoting Satyendra Garg, Joint Secretary (NE) in the Home Ministry.

The statement, however, assumes much significance as the NDFB (P) leaders have earlier expressed satisfaction over their talks with the Government.

“The NDFB (P) leaders have tabled their demands but no result has come out as of now,” said Daimary.

Daimary accompanied by BTC Deputy Chief Kampa Borgayary and Assam Minister Chandan Brahma had held review meeting over the Bodo Accord implementation. Officials from Assam Government were also present in the meeting.

“We have signed the Bodo Accord but there are few clauses which were yet to be implemented,” said Kampa Borgoyary.

“We have demanded that the amendment be passed in the coming session of the Parliament for giving ST status to the Bodo people living in Karbi Anglong,” said Borgoyary.

The BTC leaders have also raised the issue of constructing National Highways in the BTC areas.
