NAGAON: In a significant drug bust in Nagaon district of Assam on Monday (March 25), authorities seized narcotics valued at over Rs 80 lakhs and detained two individuals.
The operation, conducted by police in Nagaon district of Assam following intelligence on potential drug trafficking, resulted in the interception of a vehicle transporting the contraband.
Upon inspection of a Swift Dzire car, officials discovered the narcotics and promptly seized them.
The two occupants of the vehicle were also apprehended on suspicion of smuggling the illicit substances.
Regarding the quantity and value of the seized narcotics, an Assam police official said that the estimated value of the seized drugs exceeds Rs 80 lakhs.
Meanwhile, while two of the alleged smugglers were captured, one managed to evade authorities.
The detained individuals were identified as Anarul Islam and Moinuddin Ahmed.
Furthermore, authorities revealed that the drugs were being transported from Dimapur in Nagaland for distribution in Nagaon district of Assam.
The suspects have been processed for further legal proceedings.
