Two persons including a Nagaland IRBn personnel were arrested with 12.3 Kg Pangolin scales and 12 Tokay Gecko at Bokajan in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Sunday.
Based on specific information, a team comprising sleuths of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Bokajan police and Forest official intercepted a car near Bokajan ASEB and seized live animals and parts of endangered species listed in the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.
The arrested persons have been identified as Khoto Rhakho of Phek and Ilungheu Kuame of Peren in Nagaland.
Khoto Rhakho is IRBn personnel while Ilungheu Kuame is a student by profession.
Further investigations are underway to trace potential buyers of the articles and others involved in the trafficking ring.
