Digboi: Assam Police officer Mrinmoy Das has been selected for the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak 2026 in the Intelligence category, adding another national-level recognition to his professional achievements.

Das, who was recently transferred from Tinsukia to Sivasagar district, had earlier received the Assam Director General of Policeโ€™s Commendation Medal 2026 (Silver) for meritorious service. The latest recognition marks his second major honour in a short span.

During his tenure as Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) in Tinsukia, Das served in a region where intelligence gathering, surveillance and coordinated policing play an important role in maintaining law and order and addressing security challenges.

His selection for the national award comes as he takes up his new assignment in Sivasagar, following his service in Upper Assam.

According to an official communication issued by the Police-I Division of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on October 31, 2026, three Assam Police personnel have been selected in the Intelligence category. Besides Das, the other recipients are Havildar Dipak Borah and Senior Superintendent of Police Prasanta Saikia.

A total of 490 personnel from various states, Union Territories, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Central Police Organisations (CPOs) have been selected for the 2026 awards. The honours cover four categories: Special Operations, Investigation, Intelligence and Forensic Science.

Of the total awardees, 358 personnel have been recognised in the Special Operations category, 123 in Investigation and nine in Forensic Science. The Intelligence category also features three Assam Police personnel.

In the Special Operations category, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has the highest representation with 114 awardees, followed by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) with 56, Punjab Police with 37, Delhi Police with 36 and Jharkhand Police with 28.

Assam Police has secured recognition for 19 personnel in the Special Operations category, in addition to the three officers selected in the Intelligence category.

Instituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs on February 1, 2024, the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak aims to recognise exceptional contributions and encourage professional excellence among personnel engaged in policing, intelligence, investigation and forensic science. The awards are announced annually on October 31, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The ministry’s communication, bearing reference number 11024/02/2026-PMA, has asked the concerned authorities to verify the names and designations of the selected personnel in both English and Hindi, in accordance with their service records. The details have been sought by November 20, 2026, for further action.

Das’s selection adds to the recognition he received during his tenure in Tinsukia and highlights the achievements of Assam Police personnel at the national level.
