On the day when the COVID19 tally in Assam stands at 23,999, a total of 1,072 other patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from various hospitals in the state on Monday.

On Monday, another COVID19 positive patient in Assam passed away, however, the state’s Death Audit Board has declared the cause of the death as Pneumonia.

Sharing the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Monday said: “Discharge Alert. 1072 patients discharged today.”

The health minister informed that with the release of the 1,072 patients, the total number of discharged COVID19 patients in Assam has risen to 17,905.

Sarma said due to the relentless efforts of the doctors and health teams of Assam, the COVID19 recovery rate in the state improved from 20% to 70% on Monday.

“With sincere efforts of doctors & teams, our recovery rate has bounced back from a low of about 20% to 71%+ today,” Sarma tweeted.

The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 58 positive patients in Assam so far.

Assam currently has 6,843 active COVID19 cases.

Informing about the death of another COVID19 patient, health minister Sarma said, the deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Rajesh Narzary from Kokrajhar.

“My heartfelt condolences to family & friends of Sri Rajesh Narzary (45, Kokrajhar) whom we unfortunately lost at GMCH Guwahati. The Death Audit Board has attributed the cause to #COVID19 Pneumonia,” he added.
