Two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a bag containing Rs 4.66 lakh from one person in broad day light at PN Road in Dibrugarh on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Paban Dowerah- a resident of Chiring Sapori area of Dibrugarh.

He was going on a motorcycle after withdrawing the amount from Punjab National Bank.

Sources said the miscreants tugged his bag and took it away from him and fled from the scene.

The miscreants’ motorcycle was without a number plate.

Paban Dowerah was injured during the tussle and was later shifted to the hospital for treatment.

Dibrugarh police have begun investigating the matter.

Officer in charge of Dibrugarh police station Sidheswar Bora said that a case was registered with Dibrugarh police station.

“We are examining the CCTV footage and our investigation is on to nab the culprits,” Bora said.

“After withdrawing the money from Punjab National Bank, the victim was on his way back on his motorcycle,” he reiterated.

“The miscreants, who might have been following him for long, appeared before from nowhere and snatched the bag containing the money,” Bora added.
