Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday inspected the posh residential apartment, Spanish Garden, in Guwahati, where a COVID-19 positive case was detected.

Himanta took stock of the condition of the residents confined to the apartment which is presented sealed by the administration.

Interacting with media after the inspection, the health minister informed that 48 samples taken from the apartment tested negative after Manish Tibrewal was confirmed as COVID-19 positive.

The samples include people from both Guwahati and Nagaon who have come in contact with Tibrewal in the past few days.

However, the minister said these people will have to be under home quarantine for the next 14 days.

He further said, till the source from where Tibrewal had contracted the deadly virus is not ascertained, everyone who came in close proximity with the victim has to be extra careful.

The minister also said apart from emergency medical needs, no resident of the apartment can come out during the next 14 days.

The health minister further said, the family members of Tibrewal have been extending cent per cent cooperation with the Health department since he tested positive of the virus.
