Assam minister for PWD, health and family welfare, etc, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma ceremonially launched the Mukhya Mantri Krishi Sa-Sajuli Yojana in Sonitpur district at a function held at Joymati Pathar in Tezpur on Monday.

Altogether 15,840 farmers of Sonitpur district will receive one-time financial assistance of Rs 5000 under this scheme to purchase farm equipment and tools.

Speaking at the function, minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Our Government has been successfully implementing various welfare schemes one after the other to cover all the sections of the society. We are proud to have been able to meet the demands of the people who voted us to power.”

“The Government has laid special thrust on improving the conditions of the farmers of the state, who form the backbone of our economy. We aim to bring all 25 lakh farmer families in the State under the broad umbrella of development schemes which have been designed specifically for them,” the Minister further said.

The Government of Assam had launched three schemes for the benefits of farmers on January 28 recently on the occasion of the Krishak Swahid Divas in honour of the peasants who laid down their lives during the 1894 Patharughat uprising.

Highlighting the benefits of the Assam Farmers’ Credit Subsidy Scheme, the minister informed that farmers having KCC will be able to avail 25 per cent government subsidy up to a maximum of Rs 25,000 for any loan availed during the financial year 2018-19.

He also spoke about the Assam Farmers’ Interest Relief Scheme where farmers can avail zero-interest loans and said farmers will receive a one-time cash incentive of upto Rs 10,000 for activating overdue and NPA KCC accounts.

The minister urged all the farmers present to come forward and avail the benefits of the schemes and said the Government is committed towards working for the uplift of the farmers.

The minister also laid the foundation stone for 81 PWD road projects and three RCC bridges under Tezpur LAC.

In a separate function held at Namonigaon Field in Rangapara on Monday, the minister inaugurated the works for construction of a railway fly-over in Rangapara town and construction work of the road from Balipukhuri Tiniali-Rangapara via Bindukuri and several other important projects of Rangapara LAC in the presence of Minister for Labour & Employment, etc., Pallab Lochan Das.

Tezpur parliamnetarian Ram Prasad Sharma; Dhekiajuli MLA, Ashok Singhal; Borchalla MLA Ganesh Limbu; chairman, Assam Textbook Publication and Production Corporation, Rajen Borthakur; vice-chairman, AMTRON, Ritubaran Sarma; chairperson, Tezpur Municipal Corporation, Pushpa Deka; chairperson, Zilla Parishad, Dolly Surin; social workers Dr Birendra Kumar Nath, Amal Chandra Deka, Amiya Bhuyan; chief engineer, PWD, Hiranmoyee Sen; district agriculture officer, Prakash Bora, were present in Monday’s programme.

Meanwhile, in the same function minister for PWD, Health and Family Welfare, etc, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone for 81 PWD road projects and four bridges under Tezpur LAC in Sonitpur district on the sidelines of the Mukhya Mantri Krishi Sa Sajuli Yojana programme held at Joymati Pathar in Tezpur.
