Assam matriculation examinations to commence from third week of February 2018

The High School Leaving Certificate examination and the High Madrassa examination for the year 2018 in Assam will commence from the third week of February next year.

This was disclosed by Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) officials in Guwahati on Thursday.

According to the SEBA, as many as 3,56,600 candidates will take the first important examinations of one’s academic career.

Among them, 3,48,957 will take the HSLC examination while the remaining 9442 candidates will take the High Madrassa examination.

The practical’s of 12 subjects for both the board examinations will be held between January 22-23.

The admit cadrs for the examinations will be distributed before the Magh Bihu, that is before January 14.

The examinations will be conducted at 852 centres of 42 zones.

SEBA officials are taking utmost care to wipe out any anomalies before the commencement of the examinations that has unfortunately witnessed several untoward controversies over the past few years.

SEBA officials will deploy flying squad for 71 sensitive examination centres.

The Board has also reduced gaps in examination dates of the HSLC examinations as it will complete the examinations within 11 days.

Last year, the examinations were held for 22 days from Feb 17, but this time the gaps between the exam dates will be shorter depending on the subjects, SEBA officials informed.

Gaps would be given only for major subjects, while examinations of the elective subjects would be conducted daily.

The examinees have been instructed to use black ink as the mathematics papers will be evaluated digitally.

“We are considering evaluating all answer scripts digitally in the years to come. This year only the mathematics papers will be digitally evaluated. From next year answer scripts of all subjects will be evaluated digitally to ensure error-free evaluation,” revealed SEBA officials.
