The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has started a massive membership drive at Silchar in Assam.
The membership drive of the TMC began at Silchar on Sunday.
TMC leader from Assam and former Lok Sabha MP from Silchar constituency Sushmita Dev overviewed the drive.
“I thank TMC chief Mamata Banerjee for emerging as a strong opposition to fight the divisive and corrupt politics of BJP, both at the Centre and also in Assam,” Sushmita Dev said.
She added: “We will reach every district of Assam to enroll members.”

Senior politician from the Barak Valley in Assam – Sushmita Dev had recently joined the TMC after quitting the Congress.
On Saturday, West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has said that her party is all set to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Mamata Banerjee said: “Khela happened in West Bengal, it will happen in Assam, Tripura and Delhi in 2024.”
In Assam, the TMC has been able to make an inroad after it inducted senior politician and former Congress MP from the Bengali-dominated Barak Valley – Sushmita Dev earlier this month.
