The Darrang police have arrested one youth of Mangaldai town on charges of sedition and  remanded to judicial custody, on Tuesday.

At a time when protests has marked the country against the Pakistan based extremists and Pakistan regarding the Pulwama terror attack, the accused Hafizur Rahman  (19), son of Mansur Ali, a resident of ward no-2 of Mangaldai town was arrested for posting anti-India and pro-Pakistan messages on Facebook.

“The youth, a drop out of class X has been found sharing a post of Pakistan lovers showing some pictures which were derogatory to our nation and favoured Pakistan. We have received complaints and booked him under section 124 (a) IPC and today remanded him to judicial custody after registering a case in Mangaldai police station.” said Mamoni Hazarika , DSP (HQ) , Darrang while talking to the North East Now.

“Cyber cell of Darrang police has been put into high alert by our  SP sir to keep a the track of all the sensitive posts made viral via different social media leading to possible law and order situation in the society ”, DSP Hazarika added.
