The Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS), Mangaldoi branch has strongly condemned the recent killing of 73-year-old doctor Deben Dutta by a unruly mob in Teok T.E in Jorhat district of Assam.
In a statement by secretary of the ACMS Mangaldoi branch, Santiuse Kujur have exhorted the workers of 24 tea gardens under its jurisdiction to hold condolence prayers and light candles for the departed soul on Wednesday evening.
“We have never encouraged such brutal incidents of violence and stand in solidarity with the people of the
country in this critical hour of crisis,” said Santiuse Kujur. He also exhorted all sections of the society to stay united and not polarize the incident and blame a entire community for a lone incident.
The ACMS Mangaldoi branch has urged authorities concerned to apprehend the perpetrators of the ghastly incident and demanded stringent punishment against them.
On question of safety and security of doctors in tea garden
Kujur said that the ACMS is committed to ensure the security and well being of the doctors who are next to God.
He also appealed the student organizations and civil society members to stand unified and not give space
to hatred mongers at this juncture.
