Mangaldai Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia has assured to bring in transparency to COVID-19 guidelines regarding distribution of relief materials, both in cash and kind for positive patients and people under containments in Assam’s Darrang district.

A section of media persons particularly, a COVID-19 survivor Ganesh Dutta, on Monday has alleged that very poor quality food was being served in most of the COVID Care Centres and hospitals in the district in comparison to other neighbouring places like Tezpur and Amingaon.

He also charged the Darrang administration of lagging behind any uniform policy of providing cash amount of Rs 2000 or GR with equal monetary value to each of the families under containment zones.

A section of media persons also charged the administration of creating discrepancies in matters of maintaining COVID protocols for containment zones.

The Mangaldai BJP parliamentarian was addressing media at the circuit house on Monday afternoon along with the two BJP MLAs of the district Gurujyoti Das and Binanda Kr Saikia besides other senior party workers of the district.

In response to these charges the embarrassed parliamentarian assured the media persons of providing official COVID-19 relief manuals and also urged the media persons to provide the list of bona-fide persons being deprived of due relief.

Earlier Saikia slammed the Congress party for organizing ‘Pratarana Divas’ across the State on Monday against the ruling BJP led State Government.

He charged the Congress of cheating the people of the country with countless corruptions while ruling for 55 years and hence has no moral right to observe such protests against the BJP led government which has shown tremendous prosperity in all its major sectors.

“At this time of crisis, the Congress leaders should have gone to pacify the COVID patients. Their duty was to help out the flood and erosion victim families. But they are observing the programme only to create misconception among the people, nothing else,” Saikia reiterated.
