Cancer Care at Mangaldai

The ground breaking ceremony of a fifty bedded day care  cancer institute was held on Monday on the eastern part of  Mangaldai Civil Hospital campus   as part of the inclusive cancer care programme.

The cancer care programme is a joint venture of the Assam Government and Tata Trusts Initiative named Assam Cancer Care Foundation along with eighteen other centres across the State.

Mangal Singh Jhanjhari, a cancer survivor and a journalist lit the ceremonial lamp at a public function organized on the occasion at the campus of new Maternal & Child Health Hospital.

Several prominent people including MLAs from Mangaldai, Sipajhar and Kalaigaon Gurujyoti Das, Binanda Saikia and Maheswar Boro, Deputy Commissioner, Darrang Ashok Kr Barman,  joint Director in-charge-of of Health Services, Darrang  Dr Jadumani Kataki, Chairman, Mangaldai Municipal Board Pratap Bordoloi , President BJP , Darrang district committee Nilima Devi were present on the occasion.

The speakers while speaking on the occasion hoped that this health institution of L3 category would start functioning within the next two years and it would help a large number of cancer patients of Darrang and Udalguri with all the modern treatment including Chemo and Radio Therapy, counseling among others .

The function compeered by Jahnabi Sarma , District Media Expert , NHM , Darrang was also attended by most of  the senior health officials , health and nursing staff and ASHA workers among others .
