Concern over ten elephants being transported to Gujarat grows, CRAR

An unidentified man from a village in Assam’s Udalguri district was killed in an elephant attack on Wednesday.

The tragedy occurred at Rajgarh no 4 village of the district when the man was on duty, guarding a paddy field close to the Bhutan border.

Officials said that a herd of wild elephant strayed from the forest. A tusker attacked the man with its trunk and stamped him with foot. He died on the spot.

After alerted by local residents, Forest staff reached the spot and informed the incident to the Udalguri police.
