Guwahati: A man in Baihata Chariali in Kamrup, Assam was killed after a metal beam of an under-construction flyover fell on him on Wednesday morning.

As per reports, the man’s identity is not yet known but locals claimed that he was a peanut seller.

A local said that a crane was carrying the metal beam for the construction when the cable on the crane snapped and the beam fell.

The beam crushed the man and a truck nearby.

The man was killed on the spot before any help could arrive.

An investigation has been initiated by the police.

Locals claimed that while the flyover was needed to ease the traffic movement, the construction was being carried out with almost no safety concerns.

One local claimed that the labourers engaged seemed to be not trained professionally as they too hardly follow any safety measures.
