A major fire has broken out in an oil well of the Oil and Natural Gas Commission Limited (ONGC) at Bebejiya in Assam’s Golaghat district.
According to media reports, the fire broke out on Wednesday due to gas leakage in the oil well.

After receiving the news, police and ONGC officials rushed to the site of the incident.

The villagers of the area have expressed fear that if the authorities fail to douse the fire on time, it might create a dangerous situation like that of Baghjan in the Tinsukia district.
It took several months to douse the fire at Baghjan.
