An electrical engineer of the Oil India Limited (OIL), who was working at the gas leakage site in Baghjan oil well, died of electrocution on Wednesday.

He died at Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) in the evening.

The engineer has been identified as 26-year-old Arnab Kishore Bordoloi.

According to sources, Bordoloi, a dynamic young electrical engineer of OIL while working with some equipment at the well site, suddenly fell down and lost consciousness.

He was provided emergency health care by the doctor at the site and was taken to Assam Medical College Hospital where he was declared dead.

The reasons of the death will be known after post-mortem, sources said.

A team from OIL is carrying out an inspection at the well site to find out possible reasons for the incident.

On Monday, OIL diverted the gas from Baghjan no 5 oil well to the flare pit but the success lasted only for a couple of hours after an explosion ripped apart the well head causing valve around the BOP due to intense pressure from the gas well.
