GUWAHATI: Speculations over distribution of party tickets within the Congress party for the Lok Sabha seats in Assam has come to an end.

Senior Assam Congress leader and deputy leader of the Congress party in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, will contest from the Jorhat seat.

Meanwhile, former Assam forest minister and sitting MLA Rakibul Hussain will contest on Congress ticket from Dhubri constituency, in an expected straight fight with AIUDF chief and sitting MP Badruddin Ajmal.

On the other hand, sitting MP from Barpeta seat in Assam – Abdul Khaleque has been snapped and denied party ticket for the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

The Congress party announced its candidates for 12 Lok Sabha seats in Assam that go to polls soon.

The Congress has announced candidates for: Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Barpeta, Darrang-Udalguri, Guwahati, Diphu, Karimganj, Silchar, Nagaon, Kaziranga, Sonitpur and Jorhat Lok Sabha seats in Assam.

Among the big names from the Assam Congress to have been given party tickets to contest the Lok Sabha elections are: Gaurav Gogoi from Jorhat, Pradyut Bordoloi from Nagaon, Rakibul Hussain from Dhubri and Mira Barthakur Goswami from Guwahati.
