Sensation prevails after the recovery of the carcass of a leopard in the Kathiatoli area of the Golaghat district on Friday.
The locals first spotted the dead leopard on the bank of a pond in the Kathiatoli area.
The villagers immediately informed the forest department regarding the recovery of the leopard’s carcass.
After being informed, a team of forest officials reached the spot and recovered the dead leopard.
However, the cause of the leopard’s death is yet to be ascertained.
“The actual cause of the leopard’s death will be known only after the most-mortem,” a forest official said.

According to the forest officials, it has been identified as a mature male leopard.
On February 14, 2021, a leopard was killed by villagers in the Thuramukh area near Nambor Wildlife Sanctuary under Golaghat Forest Division.
The villagers killed the leopard after it attacked a goat in the residential area after coming out of the wildlife sanctuary.
