The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Assam on Friday demanded the release of a detailed report on the expenses incurred by the state for Covid-19 relief so far.

The state government has raised crores of rupees through various central and state funds to counter the ongoing pandemic and provide necessary health care facilities in the state.

“We demand that the state government release the details of the expenses”, LDP said in a statement.

The party also asked state health minister, Himanta Biswa Sharma about the current process of Covid-19 testing of inbound passengers from the airport.

In Sarusajai, people have to pay about rupees 2000 for immediate Covid-19 test results. If they don’t pay, they are directed to be on home quarantine for four to five days, said the statement.

The party questioned as to why the government could not provide testing for free when crores of taxpayers’ money were being collected through various funds.

The LDP also said there should be the same level of the stringent system of testing of inbound passengers in all kinds of transportation.

The party also demanded the state government make early arrangements for the free distribution of Covid-19 vaccines in the state.
