The air passengers, arriving in Assam from outside Northeast, will have to undergo tests for Covid19 at Guwahati Airport from next week.
The Assam government will stop mandatory Covid19 tests for the incoming air passengers at Sarusajai Stadium.
This was announced by Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Wednesday.
The health minister also announced that the air passengers, who travel within Assam and those who travel within the Northeast, will no need to under mandatory test for Covid19.
“From next week- 1. #COVID19 test for incoming flight passengers will be done in Guwahati Airport itself instead of Xarusajai.2. Air passengers travelling within Assam and those travelling between North East States will no longer require mandatory #COVID19 testing,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

On Wednesday, Assam’s Covid19 tally increased to 2,10,865 and the death toll reached 969 with the detection of 169 new positive cases and 3 more fatalities.
Health minister Sarma in a tweet on the state’s Covid19 tally on Wednesday said the new cases were detected out of 23,484 tests.
Assam currently has 3,285 active Covid19 patients.
Three more positive patients succumbed to Covid19 infection on Wednesday,.
The deceased were identified as Lak Nath Gogoi (62) of Tinsukia district; Anasur Hoque (14) and Mainul Haque (52) of Kamrup Rural district.
