Assam: Large cache of explosives recovered near Mizoram border

Guwahati: In an operation carried out on Sunday, a team of Indian Army and Assam Police recovered a large cache of explosives buried underground near the Assam-Mizoram border.

Acting on confidential intelligence, a joint team of army personnel and Dholai police raided a location close to Salim Uddin’s farmhouse in Rajghat, Cachar district.

The operation successfully unearthed nearly 2,900 detonators and 13 kg of gunpowder hidden beneath the surface.

However, Salim Uddin, the prime suspect managed to evade capture during the raid.

Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.

Salim is said to be involved in various illegal activities, including drug trafficking, for which he previously served a jail sentence. Reports suggest he resumed his criminal operations after receiving bail.
