North Lakhimpur: A youth from Assamโ€™s Lakhimpur district has gone missing while travelling to Kerala aboard the Vivek Express.

The missing youth, identified as Saurav Phukan of Dhalpur, boarded the 22504 Dibrugarh-Kanniyakumari Vivek Express on October 7 to look for work.

According to family sources, Saurav got off the train at Visakhapatnam railway station on October 9 and contacted his family to request money for the rest of his journey. He last spoke to his sister from Visakhapatnam on October 10.

Later that afternoon, his cousin, who was travelling with him, informed the family that Saurav had gone missing from the station premises. His phone has been switched off since then.

Sauravโ€™s mother and sister are waiting for news of his whereabouts. As the familyโ€™s sole breadwinner, his disappearance has left them distressed.

They have appealed to the state government and law enforcement authorities to investigate the case and help bring him home safely.

The incident comes days after another tragedy involving the same train service. Himashree Boro, a college student from Guwahati, was travelling on the 22503 Kanniyakumari-Dibrugarh Vivek Express from Visakhapatnam when her body was found near the railway tracks between the Ponduru and Dusi sections in Andhra Pradesh on October 7.
