The Lakhimpur police achieved yet another success in its ongoing operation against drug peddlers by recovering 28.07 gm of heroin from the possession of two persons on Tuesday evening.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Lakhimpur police carried out an operation under the leadership of superintendent of police (SP) Harekrishna Nath, additional SP (HQ) Pranab Kumar Pegu and deputy SP (Border) Faruk Ahmed.
The team was also joined by police officers and personnel from Laluk Police Station.
During the operation, the police team was able to arrest 20-year-old Dilwar Hussain and 23-year-old Moinul Islam from Karunabari village on Tuesday night.
They recovered heroin weighting 28.07 gm from the possession of the duo.

The police also recovered a two-wheeler and three mobile phones from the arrested persons.
Earlier, Lakhimpur police seized 64 cattle heads, transported illegally from three different vehicles in two different parts of the district on Monday.
The police led by a team from Khelmati Town Outpost seized 52 cattle heads transported from Dhemaji district from a truck in Khelmati.
Another police team led by Bogeenadi police recovered the remaining cattle heads from two vehicles in Bogeenadi.
Three vehicles with registration numbers AS07-AC-6136, AS-22-C 2638 and 3AS16-C-1812 were also seized by the police.
Eight people — 20-year-old Md Maidul Ali and 25-year-old Md Abdul Ali of Bogeenadi, Md Ain Uddin of Laluk, Md Sadikul Islam of Bongalmora, Sheik Farid and Sukur Ali of Dhemaji, Amrit Barman and Arjun Barman from Kokrajhar were arrested in this connection.
