Police conducting checking at Kokrajhar town on Tuesday

The police have collected fine to the tune of Rs 6 lakhs since June this year for violation of Covid-19 protocols at Assam’s Kokrajhar district.

The Kokrajhar district administration along with police personnel has been closely monitoring the enforcement of Covid-19 protocols by conducting checking, issuing challans and on the spot testing of people for the virus.

Kokrajhar additional deputy commissioner Manas Jyoti Malakar said, “As Covid-19 cases have not subsided in Kokrajhar, the district administration is maintaining strict vigilance against violation of protocols and imposing fine for the same.”

“We have so far collected more than Rs 6 lakh fine since June. Today we collected over Rs 30,000 fine for violation of Covid-19 norms,” said Kokrajhar traffic police in-charge Ghiyasuddin Ahmed.
