The Shilpi Somaj of Kokrajhar in Assam on Tuesday carried out a shradhanjali (memorial) programme in Kokrajhar in memory of the two youths who were lynched to death by a fanatic mob in Kokrajhar.

People gathered in large numbers to offer floral tribute and observed condolence for the two youths, Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath who were brutally killed at Dokmoka in Karbi Anglong district on Friday last.

More than hundred citizens from Kokrajhar town participated in the programme and lighted candles in front of the Pragati Bhawan in Kokrajhar.

Condemning the barbaric killing, the citizens demanded strict punishment to the culprits involved in the heinous crime.

It may be recalled that Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das, two youths from Guwahati were on a day’s vacation to Dokmoka in Karbi Anglong.

They are accosted by locals on suspicion of being child-lifters and started thrashing them.

The fatally injured youth later succumbed to their injuries.
