Amid the spike in Covid-19 cases in Assam, the authorities of Kaziranga National Park (KNP) have decided to close down the elephant safaris for the visitor of the park for this season from April 30.
“Elephant Safari for visitors in Kaziranga National Park (KNP) shall remain closed with effect from April 30, 2021 for the tourist season 2020-2021,” said a statement.

This has been stated in a general notice issued by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, Bokakhat, the statement added.
The Kaziranga National Park, famous for the one-horned rhinos, was opened for tourists on October 21 last year after a gap of over seven months because of the Covid-19 outbreak in Assam.
This was the longest shutdown for the park in its 112-year history.
