After the controversies regarding the “job mela” by the Assam Government, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said that actions will be taken against officials behind the mismanagement of the program.
CM Sarma said that he asked minister Chandra Mohan Patowary to look into the issue.
He said, “Before organizing such a program, there should have been newspaper advertisements clearing out that the jobs would be from private companies.”
He added that the mela could have been organized online to prevent the crowd.
“It was wrong to trouble so many youths like this”, he added.
It may be mentioned that on Friday, two officials were also suspended over the mismanagement of the statewide program.
On Thursday, a score of unemployed youths rushed to the job mela hoping to get a stable job in the government sector but to their dismay, the counters in the government arranged program was filled with private companies.
The dismay did not end there, the jobs on offer were low-paying jobs with no security.
People took to social media complaining how the entire program was mismanaged by the authorities and they were just left with disappointments.
