Assam: Jeep safari at Kaziranga’s Kohora range, to remain shut for PM Modi’s visit

Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam will reopen its gates to visitors on October 1 after the monsoon season.

GUWAHATI: Due to the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam, Jeep Safari in the Kohora range of the park will be closed from March 7 to 9 (forenoon).

Additionally, Elephant Safari in the same range will be closed from March 8 to 9.

However, the Jeep Safari and Elephant Ride in other ranges will continue as usual, as per a notification from the park authorities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam for the first time on March 8.

His arrival in Kaziranga is scheduled for the evening of March 8, where he will stay overnight at the Police Guest House.

The following day, he will explore the Kohora Range in the National Park.

This inaugural visit of the Prime Minister to the UNESCO World Heritage site has stirred excitement within the Assam government and the forest department.
