Assam Industries and Commerce dept signs MoU for Tool Room at Tinsukia

Commissioner and secretary of Assam’s Industries and Commerce Department, S S Meenakshi Sundaram signed an MoU with the project manager, Kajal Kumar Saha, Tool Room & Training Centre, Guwahati for construction of a Tool Room & Training Centre at Quality Control Building at Borguri in Tinsukia.

The MoU was signed in the presence of state industries and commerce minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati on Saturday.

The Tool Room will be set up under the special scheme ‘Promotion of MSME in NE Region and Sikkim’.

The project cost of the Tool Room is Rs 11.33 crore, out of which Government of India’s grant is Rs 5.80 crores and state share is Rs 5.53 crores.

The Tool Room and Training Centre will develop production facilities of moulds, jigs, fixtures and other sophisticated tools preferable for MSMEs.

It will also train manpower in the field of industrial engineering and other allied engineering trades both for the freshers and for personnel already engaged in the field.

Dr K K Dwivedi, commissioner and secretary, Industries and Commerce Department and Virendra Mittal, MD, AIDC were present in the meeting.
