Upasana Deka, the secretary of the Darrang district chapter of the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW), made a visit to ‘Aai’, the newly functioning Government-recognized Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) of the district at Santipur, Mangaldai in Darrang district on Friday afternoon.
Deka interacted with the office-bearers of the Non Profit Organization (NPO), Crystal Vision, which has been looking after the child care centre and also the staff of the centre.

She wanted to know about the health care services provided to the newborn inmates and also inquired about cleanliness and hygiene of the centre.
Deka expressed her gratitude to the members of Crystal Vision for coming forward for such a noble cause to set up the first adoption agency in the district thereby fulfilling the long felt need for care, protection and shelter of abandoned, surrendered and orphan children under six years of age.
She advised the staff members of the centre to remain careful and perform their duties with a very holistic approach. She also urged upon the NPO members to follow the necessary guidelines of CARA in consultation with SARA, Assam, CWC and DCPU and share opinions with experienced people associated with the same in other parts of the State.

In her visitor’s note, Deka expressed satisfaction and deep pleasure observing overall management of the centre. She was also accompanied by local women activist Ranju Bhuya.
