Prafulla Kumar Mahanta arrived at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati on Friday evening.
Saying that he stands alongside the anti-CAA forces, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta hinted at the revival of the Asom Gana Parishad-Progressive (AGP-P).
On being asked by the reporters on denial of ticket by the AGP to contest the upcoming elections, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta reverted back by asking: “Which party denied ticket?”

This question by Prafulla Kumar Mahanta has further gave air the reports of revival of AGP-Progressive party and the two-time CM joining the Grand Alliance.
The AGP-P was floated by Prafulla Kumar Mahanta in 2005 after his expulsion from the AGP by the party’s leadership.
Later in 2008, the AGP-P merged with the AGP.

Slamming the AGP, ex-Rajya Sabha MP and wife of Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Jayshree Mahanta said: “This is really unfortunate. For the first time in history, a regional party has bent the knee in New Delhi. AGP has lost its regionalism.”
