A human trafficking racket has been busted by the police in Guwahati, Assam.
The racket has been busted by the police in Guwahati’s Hatigaon area.
3 persons have been arrested by the police in connection with the case.
Those arrested by the police have been identified as: Lalita Devi, Jundaram Gujjar and Sahidul Haque.
Of the three arrested, Lalita Devi and Jundaram Gujjar hail from Rajasthan.
On the other hand, Sahidul Haque is a resident of Chaygaon area near Guwahati.
“We have been trying to nab persons involved in the racket since a long time now. Those arrested have been involved in sex and human racketeering. We tracked these persons to Rajasthan,” informed officials of the Hatigaon Police Station in Guwahati.
A girl from Bongaigaon in Assam was also rescued by the police while busting the human trafficking racket.
The rescued girl was reportedly trafficked from Bongaigaon and was ‘sold’ in Rajasthan by the traffickers for Rs 1.5 lakhs.
The arrested persons also reportedly created ruckus at the police station before being sent to jail.
