Assam human rights activist Dr Dibyajyoti Saikia has added feather to his illustrious hat.

Like previous years, the national fashion and social magazine G-Town Society has awarded several prominent personalities from the fields of entertainment, fashion, education and social service.

Human rights activist from Assam Dibyajyoti Saikia was awarded with the G–TOWN Society Excellence award at a glittering function held at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi recently.

He was honoured for his exemplary services against superstition, witch-hunting, terrorism, communalism and the likes.

The award was also conferred on Saikia for his relentless work towards women empowerment, education and especially for his efforts to establish peace and humanity in the society.

Dr Saikia who has been working for peace and humanity for the last two decades had in his kitty around 42 national awards before receiving the G–TOWN Society Excellence award.

Earlier this year, Dr Saikia has been conferred the India Star Republic Award by India Star Book of Records.

He also has several other national awards to his credit like Babu Jagjiwan Ram Award, Maulana Azad National Award and Bhupen Hazarika Peace award.

Saikia has also worked among those victims displaced by floods or affected by communal violence.

He has worked in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Recently he was conferred an honorary doctorate degree by California Public University, USA.

The Doctor of Humanities degree was conferred upon a special programme for services in the fields of human rights, social harmony, peace and community welfare.
