The first-year exams of Higher Secondary in Assam under AHSEC have been cancelled. 

The Higher Secondary first year students have been promoted to the second year. 

This was informed by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) in a notification on Monday. 

The decision was taken keeping in view the deteriorating COVID-19 situation in Assam.

The first-year examinations, which were scheduled to be held from May 4, were earlier postponed. 

But with the COVID-19 situation across Assam deteriorating, the AHSEC decided to cancel the examinations altogether. 

“…due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Higher Secondary First Year Examinations 2021 scheduled to be held from 04/05/2021 which was postponed has now been cancelled and all the students, who have filled up online applications for the same are hereby declared to have been promoted to the HS 2nd year class for the academic session 2021-2022,” the AHSEC said in its notification.

The COVID-19 situation in Assa continues to be grim. 

Assam on Monday reported 48 more COVID-19 deaths and as many as 3,299 new positive cases.
