Guwahati: The scorching heatwave in Assam has affected not only humans but also aquatic animals as several fish in a pond in Bongaigaon were found dead on Sunday.

The owner of the pond located at Betbari in Bongaigaon, Assam said that on Sunday morning he found several fish floating on the pond’s surface.

On checking the fish, he found that they were all dead.

He further investigated the matter and found out that the fish died due to the extreme heat.

The owner of the pond, Dhaneshwar Rai told the media that around 80 to 90 kilograms of fish died in the pond.

He further said that fish included both small and large varieties of fish.
