Fire and Emergency services along with Health and Family Welfare department of Assam’s Dima hasao sprayed disinfectant at the Haflong market area on Wednesday evening.
This was done to clean and sterilize the streets, footpath, roads leading to shops, dustbins, railings etc as a preventive measure to contain coronavirus in the town.
This exercise was done in presence of Dima Hasao superintendent of police Bir Bikram Gogoi, DSP Surya Kanta Morang, joint director, Health & Family Welfare, Dr Dipali Barman, election officer Hemanga Nobis and other officials.
Dima Hasao deputy commissioner Amitabh Rajkhowa while appealing to people of Dima Hasao about the necessity of observing lock down, he says, “Nobody should come out of home without urgency and in case if anybody is found loitering will attract penalty provisions of law which may extend upto two years in jail, so all are requested abide by the order seriously.”
Meanwhile as the entire Health department is activated to combat in case of any suspect detected in the district, a total of 50 numbers surveillance team have been rigorously working to sensitize people and screen those who recently returned to the district from other states or have travel history from other country.
While one quarantine facility with 40 beds has been set up at Siksha Bhavan in Haflong and more lined up, as many as 240 persons in the entire district are in home quarantined for 14 days and asked to maintain social distance in order to prevent probable spread of COVID-19.
These are people who recently returned home, have recent travel history from other affected states like Delhi, Karnataka etc and have been home quarantined as precautionary measure.
One suspect is isolated whose sample is sent to Silchar Medical College.
Till date 2186 numbers of people have been screened.
