Guwahati: A 27-year-old woman from Guwahati who was reported missing on Friday, April 24, has been found safe in Shillong, her family confirmed through social media.
The woman, named Bhabana Sarma, was found inside a room at a State Bank of India branch near Polo Ground in Shillong. She was seen in a disturbed condition when bank staff arrived in the morning, following which police were informed.
Once her location was confirmed, her family, along with police officials, travelled to Shillong to take her back.
According to reports, she went missing after sending a message to her family saying she was in danger. She had booked a cab from her residence in Tetelia, Guwahati, and was travelling towards Azara when she sent the message.
Her family later approached Jalukbari Police Station after they could not reach her. Police began tracking her movement and started a search.
Officials said her phone was last active near the Gauhati University area before it switched off. There was no contact with her until she was found in Shillong.
Police are continuing the investigation to determine how she went missing and the circumstances that led to her being found in Shillong.
