Hours after his arrest on Sunday on charges of helping model Rajkanya Baruah to avoid police investigation, Guwahati-based neurosurgeon Dr. Navanil Barua got bail.
Dispur police on Friday afternoon arrested Dr. Barua under sections 201, 212 and 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after three-day marathon interrogation.

The police also quizzed the neurosurgeon on Friday as well on Saturday in connection with the case.

Dr. Barua allegedly admitted the former Miss India finalist to the hospital on October 3 by signing a “false medical certificate” about a head injury.

Rajkanya Baruah, the 29-year-old model, had skipped police interrogation citing that certificate.
The Kamrup (M) Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in Guwahati on Friday sent model Rajkanya to 14-day judicial custody.
The Assam police on Wednesday re-arrested Rajkanya, who was granted bail within 24 hours of knocking down 8 PWD workers with her car on GS Road in Guwahati on October 2.
