Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Sunday celebrated Diwali with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel stationed at Sutarkandi in Karimganj district along Indo-Bangla border.

“I salute the BSF personnel who are far away from their families and are stationed here for our protection,” Mukhi said.

The Governor, accompanied by the First Lady of Assam Prem Mukhi, distributed sweets to the BSF as well as the officers of Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB).

The Governor later visited Sutarkandi trade centre and interacted with the BSF men manning the frontier.

“These men guard our frontiers for which we peacefully celebrate our festivals,” the Governor further said.

“I have always celebrated Diwali with my family. A thought of celebrating the festival with them brought me here today,” he added.
