An inter-institution NSS camp on ‘Leadership and Personality Development’ is being organized by Gauhati University NSS Cell.
The camp is being organized in association with regional directorate, NSS, north-eastern region, Guwahati from January 8 to 12 at Gauhati University campus.

Around 200 NSS volunteers from Dibrugarh University, Bodoland University, Assam Agricultural University, Asian Institute of Nursing, Tezpur University, Assam Don Bosco University and Gauhati University are taking part in the camp.
The inauguration programme was held on Wednesday at GU PD Seminar Hall.
Inaugurating the programme as chief guest, Prof Birinchi Kumar Das, vice-chancellor, Bhattadev University spoke to the gathering and emphasized on volunteership and its impact on society and hence urged all the volunteers to contribute in nation building.

Welcoming the dignitaries and participants in the programme, Dr Kakati spoke about the importance of NSS in society through development of personality and leadership qualities and character formation.
Attending the programme, Dipak Kumar, regional director, NSS, north-eastern region, gave an introduction to the camp.
He said the camp may help to address the youth about the qualities and skills required to become a good and disciplined citizen of the country and create a sense of responsibility towards the society.
Attending the programme as guest of honour, Dr H K Nath, registrar, GU, in his speech urged the volunteers to devote themselves to socially useful works and not to waste their valuable time.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dilip Borah, secretary, University Classes, GU, remembered his earlier association with NSS and said that apart from academic activities, co-curricular activities are also equally important in the growth of the students.
Also present during the occasion was Sunil Basumatary, former regional director, NSS, NER.
During the camp the NSS volunteers will be trained in various aspects like peace & nationalism, life skills, personality development, career building etc.
