He was awarded in the 7th edition of the National CSR Leadership Congress organised by World CSR Day & World Sustainability in Taj MG Road, Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Dr. Pranab J Patar, who originally hails from Morigaon in Assam, has been honoured with the awards for providing outstanding leadership towards developing innovative and enduring solutions to some of the key socio-environmental challenges faced by humanity.

He was awarded in presence of Nicolas Bockhoff, chief operating officer, SUEZ India; Dr. R. L. Bhatia, founder, World CSR Day & World Sustainability; Jason Fernandes, founder, TokenJay TV, Manoj Balachandran, head, CSR-IBM India & South Asia; Dr Anupama Shetty, mission director, Biocon India Foundation and Anupama Nidhi, head, CSR, Hindustan Zinc Ltd.

Dr Pranab took over as the CEO of Global Foundation in January 2019 and since then, he has been steering the organization to prominence by working on water resources conservation & restoration of water bodies, mountain sustainable development, climate action & building climate resilience through promotion of low-carbon energy solutions, sustainable livelihood and environmental capacity enhancement, said a press statement.

While speaking at the event as the chair of a panel discussion on the impact of the Covid19 on the renewable energy sector, Dr Pranab highlighted the urgency of shifting towards green energy as the world is trying to recover from the deadly blow of Covid19 pandemic while promoting sustainable development and a net-zero trend in the wake of alarming climate change implications.

While thanking the jury, Dr Pranab underscored that these awards are nothing but a much-needed recognition of the environment and sustainability work, they are trying to promote and propagate at the national level.

In India, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been supporting development projects in areas such as education, poverty, environment, sanitation, gender equality, and hunger across supporting the needy and marginalised populations across the country.

Thanks to the CSR amendment under the Companies Act, 2013, which came into effect in 2014, making India, the world’s first country to make CSR mandatory for businesses.
