To extend support to the people in Assam seeking assistance in the wake of massive protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019, the Assam government has launched seven emergency helpline numbers.

The citizens can take help of these helpline numbers at times of emergency in Assam.

The helpline numbers to contact the state-level emergency operation centre located at Dispur are – 1079 and 9401044617.

The helpline numbers to contact the district emergency operation centre in Kamrup (Metro), Guwahati, are – 1077 and 0361-2733052.

The Assam government has also launched two helpline numbers so that the citizens can gather information regarding the ASTC bus services from the LGBI Airport and the train services from Guwahati.

The emergency helpline numbers for ASTC bus services from LGBI Airport, Borjhar to the city are 9435040706 and 8133918051.

The helpline number for train services is 9957553005.

Meanwhile, protests continue across Assam against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019.

Apart from Assam, protests have also been staged in different parts of the country and abroad against the Act.

Although mobile internet services have remained suspended in Assam since Wednesday last, many social media users continue to express their fury against CAA from other parts of India and abroad.

Several army columns have been deployed in different parts of Assam to maintain law and order situation. Curfew has been relaxed in Guwahati up to 9 pm.

The death toll in the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA),  2019 protests rose to five on Sunday.
