The tall claims of the BJP ally Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) of bringing development in BTC region of Assam stands flat and are just limited to slogans and promises.

The people of the greater Khoirabari village encompassing nearly 10 villages under Harisinga Revenue Circle which falls under Paneri LAC and Khalingduar BTC constituency are yet to get to any benefits as far as irrigation is concerned.

The agrarian dependent villagers of 1 No,2 No,3 No Khoirabari village, Purani Tangla village, Habigaon village, Duliapara village, Bura Gohain Than, Paschim Nalbari are plagued by innumerous problems primarily the absence of irrigation facilities have forced the villagers to depend entirely on rainfall.

What has added to the apathy of the hapless villagers is the stream of Nonai river without any check dams.

The villagers whose voice couldn’t reach the representatives have now volunteered to build an embankment as previously floods have eroded the river banks.

The villagers have also raised a dyke on their own using sandbags and bamboo poles to build a wall to deviate the river current at 1 No Khoirabari village.

The villagers through their own savings have also called for an excavator to eradicate erosion along the banks on March 15 last.

The villagers alleged that on many occasions, village representatives requested the Tangla Division (Irrigation) officials for sanctioning of an irrigation project but to no avail.
