Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi visited Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday and held meetings with the district administration and other stake holders to promote work culture and law and order of the district.

In his maiden visit to the district, Prof Mukhi , chaired a meeting with the district administration in the conference hall of the Circuit House in Diphu and took a review of developmental activities along with the implementation of various government schemes being implemented for the welfare of all sections of the people in the district. He also directed the administration to take special initiatives to ensure that all government schemes reach the lowest strata of the society.

Since agriculture is the backbone of the State’s economy, Prof Mukhi said that efforts should be on to develop a synergistic approach for Agriculture, Irrigation, PHE and Soil Conservation Departments to work in unison for the betterment of agricultural produce and doubling the farmers’ income.

On the educational front the Governor asked the Council Members of KAAC to strictly monitor the student-teacher ratio and the attendance of teachers and students in the schools. He also asked the Deputy Commissioner to ensure that no child is left out of compulsory primary education in the district.

Earlier the Governor along with the Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan, Principal Secretary, KAAC, M Hazarika, Chief Executive Member and other officials visited Gandhi Park and paid floral tributes before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. He also interacted with the members of the Self Help Groups working for  Swachh Bharat Mission and expressed his satisfaction over the successful implementation of SBM in the district.

The Governor also visited Diphu Civil Hospital and met the patients. He also visited Diphu Government Higher Secondary School and interacted with the students and teaching fraternity. Prof Mukhi also had interaction with the local organizations and NGOs.
