Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi inaugurated the 118th Ramdia Raas Mahotsav in Hajo on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said, “Raas Leela is not just about dancing and singing. It is about unity and trust that all the Gopis have in Lord Krishna. The Gopis feel secured with Lord Krishna shower hymns of adulation on him”.

He also said that the main character of Raas Lila is Lord Krishna.

The dance performed by hundreds of gopis centering round Lord Krishna is known as “Raas Krira”.

Raas Krira symbolizes the meeting ground of human soul with divinity. In the raas krira, gopies symbolize the human and Lord Krishna symbolizes the divine soul.

This theory of human and divine soul is the basis of raas krira.

He further said that now a days people are so busy with their daily chores that they get very less time to spend with fellow mates.

Raas is the festival where people from all walks of life come together and celebrate the festival with joy and happiness.

It helps to create the bond among all caste, creed and religion.
